Some diners note that during peak hours, particularly Saturday at 3 PM, the cafe can be quite crowded, leading to longer wait times. Others mention that certain dishes sell out quickly, which can be disappointing. While the casual vibe is generally well-received, some might find the ambiance less formal than expected for a dining experience. A few feedback express that there could be more vegetarian options; while there are selections, expanding this could cater to diverse tastes. Ensuring ample supply during busy periods is a challenge that some diners feel could improve their experience.
Wow - what a menu! Hong Kong but also japanese dishes. Such friendly service and the best udon noodles I've had. Absolutely delicious and can't wait to go back. Definitely have the HK French Toast or the snack platter to start.
Very good authentic ChaaChanTeng to be had outside of Hong Kong. Exceptional egg fried rice, light fluffy and perfectly coated with flavour. They did fermented tofu stir fried green veg for me at my request, as there was no more morning glory veg and it was very good! The wanton noodles have the perfect flounder stock no msg, another plus! Too hungry and busy eating to take photos.
I can’t recommend The Seafood Guy highly enough! The quality was top notch — everything is fresh, beautifully prepared, and you can really taste the difference compared to supermarket seafood. The variety is fantastic too, with great options whether you’re after something simple for dinner or something special for a weekend feast. Service is spot on, friendly, knowledgeable, and always happy to give cooking tips or advice on what’s in season. You can tell there’s real pride in what they do. Nottingham is lucky to have such a brilliant seafood supplier — I won’t go anywhere else now when in Notts
Ordered golden fried rice, oyster rice in soup , beef short rib in broth with flat noodles, Iced milk tea . Everything is great, superb , love it. Authentic Hong Kong taste Will definitely come again!
I always thought French toast had to be thick to taste good, but this one proved me wrong. It wasn’t very thick, yet it literally took me back to Hong Kong. It was cooked perfectly and in a traditional way, full of confidence—just like in one of the many Hong Kong-style cafés. I’ve already had it twice, and also tried the chocolate lava toast once, but the original flavor is simply flawless—especially when paired with a hot milk tea, it truly feels like being in Hong Kong. The crab was also very delicious and reasonably priced. It wasn’t extremely big, but definitely not small either—just right. I’ll definitely order the crab again next time 🦀. The food arrived at 5:50 pm, but it was actually my lunch.
Had some of the best food I have ever eaten last night @theseafoodguyuk. I was a bit doubtful as there have been a lot of gushing comments on Insta about this place. But it lives up the hype... Phrases like hidden gem are overused... But this is the full treasure chest. Every dish was delicious and the portions are full plates not small plates, meaty ribs, fat scallops everything perfectly seasoned I love Sichuan spice and thus was up there with the best . It's definitely not just seafood either lots of chicken, beef and pork dishes . But the seafood is amazing, my mate and I agreed we are heading back very soon for the whole crab which we didn't have cos we wanted to try a few different dishes. Reports from other tables were that it was sensational. There are pictures on the menu so you know what to expect but they don't do the food justice. The food for the two of us 3 big dishes plus rice was less than £40. We had leftovers and are both big eaters. We got a decent bottle of wine to share which was reasonable too. They have some great meal deals on with mains, drink and rice for about £15 and cheaper at lunchtime. It's less than 10 minutes walk from Nottingham Station and you get beautiful views up to the Castle as you walk there. The staff are lovely and helpful if you are stuck on what to choose. Go there now.
Great place to come and eat, it was our first time here, drinks came out separately but didn't mind it. The food was a choice of starter then main or just bring out as it's ready, we chose the second option. Clean, good atmosphere, really helpful staff but didn't hover and when it came to pay they left the machine with us to do in our own time. Even the little shop at the front was great! Would definitely go again. We had the Eel Rice Bowl, Beef with egg noodles, spoots (razor clams) and gyoza. Would really recommend the Yuzu Sake cocktail!
